We seek a qualified or aptly experienced heavy diesel mechanic that works to a high standard to support and add to our workshop team. This position is a full-time permanent role with a generous remuneration package and friendly hours. A company vehicle will be available for the right candidate depending on your qualifications and experience. An exciting opportunity has arisen at Dirtworks limited in the serene rural West Auckland suburb of Whenuapai. We are seeking a Workshop Parts Administrator to join a small fun and energetic heavy diesel workshop team in the transportation and earthmoving industry. Essentially, your role looks to enhance the optimal workflow between our workshop, our operational departments and our suppliers, through the procurement, organisation and administration of our parts and stock. This is a permanent role, Monday to Friday, working 25 family friendly and flexible hours per week to be worked between 9am and 4pm daily. This may be the perfect opportunity for you, especially if you are someone with:

  • strong administration and relationship building skills;
  • attention to detail with excellent planning and organisational skills
  • an inquisitive and analytical mindset when it comes to working with data and working with technology;
  • an energetic, motivated and positive ‘can do’ attitude

Any experience in an automotive setting may give you a head start in this role, but it is not as essential as your customer relations and administrative experience.

Earthworks Site Manager

Our management team is highly experienced and great to work with. We are looking for a capable site manager with leadership skills to join us and make this role your own.

Duties:

You will run a large clean and managed fill site in West Auckland, utilising a modern fleet of heavy earth moving machinery. Reporting to, and working closely with our Operations Manager, you will supervise a small onsite team of operators, at various skill levels. Strong on planning and daily management, you will be evaluating and implementing tasks and reporting on the efficient and safe running of the site. You will be an experienced machine operator, to support sound decision making, coaching, advising and great at developing people and your team(s), while consistently improving performance across all aspects of operations.

Skills:

  • Extensive bulk earthworks experience shifting large volumes of material with 20-40t diggers, dozers and Moxy’s.
  • Positive management capability, leading by example, especially for young people keen to grow and develop.
  • Project management skills with the ability to plan/create a schedule and deliver to plan. You are able to predict timeframes and understand when there is pressure and when there is not.
  • Proven experience safely operating a variety of heavy machinery, including excavators, bulldozers and moxy / hydrema.
  • Sound knowledge of environmental legislation including silt control and clean / managed fill levies.
  • Awareness and commitment to safe practices, working closely with senior management and our HS and HR team.

The right candidate has extensive experience shifting large volumes of material. You can quickly see the most efficient course of action and order to do it in. You can schedule and plan the up coming tasks in priority order. Workshop Manager

Our management team is highly experienced and great to work with. We are looking for a capable workshop manager with leadership skills to join us in our conveniently located, fully equipped workshop in Whenuapai, West Auckland.

You will manage a small team of 2 certified heavy diesel technicians, 1 apprentice and 1 workshop administrator. Guided by our fleet management schedule, you will be organizing the repairs, breakdowns and maintenance of a modern fleet of trucks, trailers, various earthmoving machinery and light vehicles. Strong on planning and daily management, you will be assessing and implementing tasks to the workshop staff and reporting on the efficient and safe repairs and maintenance conducted. You will be an experienced heavy diesel technician working both off and on the tools, as necessary.

You will play an important role in the organisation and form a collaborative relationship with the Operations Manager and the upper management team. We seek an industry expert that can provide a high level of technical and problem solving skills, who focuses on value added solutions that can improve both safety and profitability. You will drive continuous improvement, seek growth opportunities for the workshop team members and further develop a cohesive and multi-skilled team.

Skills:

  • New Zealand certificate in heavy automotive engineering (level 4) in either road transport or plant and equipment
  • Two+ years proven workshop people management experience with leadership and team development skills. This may be at a supervisory level and you are ready to move into a management role.
  • Staff performance, learning & development and leave management skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturer compliance, legislation and warranty management
  • Monitor and ensure workshop targets are achieved
